Football table maintenance

Your football table was designed to be sturdy and durable, able to withstand clumsiness and wear and tear of daily use... but you still have to maintain it!

This first rule is to respect your table. Kicks, punches and other angry gestures should be banned because they might twist the rods and hinder the rotation of the rods. If the rods get too twisted, moving the players will be difficult.

When playing, put out your cigarette and put down your drink. The playfield isn’t fond of spills and ash.

Once you’ve done all of these things, you’re already halfway there. To look after your football table, here is a list of easy tips.

Rods and handles maintenance

The most important parts of a football table are the rods. They must be well oiled so they can slide properly and provide a fluid and enjoyable game. To do so, use a burette and a little oil on the inner length of the rod. Protect the playfield from splashes with a cloth. Afterwards, repeatedly slide the bars in and out to spread the oil.

If a rod is twisted, no amount of oil can fix it. You can take it out to try and straighten it, but it is a delicate operation that necessitates proper tools. The easiest fix is to simply change the rod.

The screws and bolts of the handles and rods need to be tightened properly. Tightening them with a wrench is more effective than doing so by hand. Once a year, check that all other screws are well tightened: players, sides of the cabinet and legs, inner part goals...

It’s also useful to make sure that your football table is level. Place the ball midfield to know if the playfield is perfectly flat. If the table is a little wobbly, place wedges under the legs.

Playing field maintenance

To maintain your playing field, your vacuum cleaner is your best friend. Equipped with a brush head (so as to not scratch the surface), the vacuum will remove dust and impurities. If the balls leave a mark on your pitch, try rubbing them out with an eraser. If in spite of our recommendations the a drink were to spill on the football table, making the playfield a little sticky, quickly grab a cloth and a bottle of White Spirit and delicately dab at the spots. Only put a couple of drops on the cloth! If the pitch is too deteriorated, you have the possibility to change it. You can find a new pitch at any retailer.
